BE THERE.

Honestly it has taken me around 9 months to finally post this blog just from the fear of vulnerability and from it not being a super "happy post". But, after thinking about it each week, the Lord finally said, "do it", so here goes nothing. Hope you enjoy!

Be there.

About 3 months ago I listened in on a zoom call of one of my favorite high school teachers sharing his “greatest story ever told” with the senior graduating class (if you know, you know). It was a call open to all alumni to hear the wildest and coolest story just one more time since graduating from the good ole Westminster Academy. Throughout the past 3 months something has stuck in my brain and has recently really come up to the forefront of my brain. Before ending the call, Mr. Jominy said, “Be there.”

“Be there in heaven. Don’t wait. Be there.” -Mr. Jominy

It was one of those things that’s easy to shove away but easy to creep back up in your brain. It’s so simple. “Be there.” Or at least it seems that way.

This past year has been a little rocky with some unbearing news. Sickness, death, disease, worldly unrest and negativity can easily eat you away from Christ and from joy. It’s so easy to get tangled into your own web of desires before looking towards others. It’s so easy yet so frustrating.

I’ve also learned through this year that things can be taken away fast. Too fast. What my teacher was saying is to be there for others, to be there in heaven. Be there. Don’t wait till it’s too late or gone.

I believe in a God that is much bigger than everything in the world today. I trust Him and I trust His plan. Although it’s hard to understand, comprehend and see the light, I trust Him. That’s the beauty of the gospel. He gives hope. He gives joy. He gives peace.

It’s easy to ask the “why” questions and let satan tangle the brain into a webbed ‘why’ thought program to then tangle it further into anger. In those moments of “why”, I challenge the optimism side of my personality. The “why” makes it about me, selfishly. But the optimism side of “How can I be a light to others, how can I bring joy into another life, how can I share God’s love today?” Those are the questions that lead into the “be there.”

For those reading, I want you to be there with me. I want you to experience the hope, joy, peace the Lord gives. I want you to experience the security and community. I want you to experience his unfailing merciful love. I want you to experience the challenges. I want you to experience Him.

For believers. I want you to continually encourage those in love around you. I want you to trust further into His plan. I challenge you to humble yourself before others daily. I challenge you to love others like Christ, no matter the color, background, gender, or anything they have done to you. Love them. Jesus does.

In all honesty, Bob Goff’s book, Everybody Always, has really transformed my faith in radical ways of “love”. He’s most definitely the love guy, but the Jesus kinda love guy, but equally the craziest and coolest guy. He desperately and openly loves everybody always. He wants people so badly to know Christ. And as a believer myself, I want you so badly to know Him.

Things, people, feelings come and go, but He will never leave. “He is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)

As I sit here writing this at 10 pm, I want you to be there with me. I want you in heaven with me. I’ve learned and watched how it’s a short life here on earth, but it’s eternity in heaven. I want you to be there. Don’t wait to text someone or don’t second guess yourself on hugging one another or playing, idk, chess with them, go and be there with them. Show love. Don’t wait. Don’t hesitate. Do it. Be there.

Something deep and personal on my heart that I felt the Lord pushing me to share.

Stay rad y'all,

Cay

:)
