Hey-yo!!

I’ve come to terms that I stress too much about my future. I was just on Youtube and came across the Aaron family and died. Specifically watching, “Family VAN LIFE in HAWAII” #notpromoting but honestly #promoting because THAT is what I want to be doing later on in the life of Cayla Coningsby.

On a real note though, I’ve always grown up being poured in, “Oh girl, God’s gotchu,” or “trust in the plan,” or “don’t worry, He’s got something special lined up for you.” But, here I am in college asking, "OKKK GOD WHERE'S THE SPECIAL PLAN???" Like you’ve been telling me this for decades now, and I still don’t know whats happening, where I’m going, or how can I get there.

Lol.

But this past Sunday at DCC, Pastor Ben preached on it. He talked on how we, us humans, try to control our future so much. We’re not patient for what God is going to show us. We try and try to make this grand plan where everything is going to be A-OK. But in reality, our lives are not perfect. They can turn in a snap.

For example, last weekend a good friend of mine was driving home late at night and a possum ran out on the interstate, and his natural instinct was to swerve instead of just hitting the thing. In just a second, he flew off of the high way going many, many feet into the woods, absolutely wrecking his car. THAT was definitely not in his mindset of plans. He honestly is a miracle, a walking miracle. Everything indicated that he should’ve died, or at least had serious injuries. But God let him walk out with just a few scratches. LIKE WHAT.

Just like in Daniel 3, with the fiery furnace. These men in this story kept their eyes upon the Lord. They refused the way of the world and were willing to deal with the consequence of possible death. Fast forward, King Nebuchadnezzar threw all three men in the furnace and ordered it 7 times hotter than usual. Instead of killing the 3 men, he ended up killing one of his own soldiers while God allowed the three men to not be touched by the fire and walk out without even a burn.

Without even knowing their future, Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego put their hope and trust in the Lord. Just like my friend, who had no intention of driving off the road, but because of his hope and trust in the Lord, God provided him safety.

Just like the story in Daniel and with my friend, we as Christians should not be afraid of what our future entails, but to be excited for the challenges and accomplishments ahead of us. To put our hope and trust in the Lord, for HE is the only one that gives us strength, and HE is the only one that provides our way.

So go do yo thang, and shine that little light.

Stay rad, y'all,

Cay
