WORTH THE RISK

Alrighty, friends.

This past week I’ve had some of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in a while. Although it’s just summer plans, God opened the opportunity to work at two different camps or in a mission field in Haiti.

I was honestly stunned. Not in any way, shape, or form did I think he would open up all three jobs, which was equally exciting and stressful trying to make pro/con’s lists and calling people up to hear their word on it.

It came down to the point of, first, the power of prayer and, second, the power of being comfortable with the uncomfortable.

In this world, it is so easy to get comfortable in your everyday routine, your friends, and your job. But, why is it so hard for us to step out of our comfort zone? I found myself sitting here with possible jobs in Missouri for 6 weeks, North Carolina for 1.5 months, and Haiti for 2.5 months. So, I thought to myself, which would push me most out of my comfort zone, yet would give a greater impact to reaching those I wouldn’t normally reach every day?

Right now, Haiti is dealing with a whirl wind of unrest. There’s killings, stealings, rock throwings, and beatings all over the capitol because of the new government system. No flights are coming in and out, and every foreigner has been advised to leave.

In a sense, I was like, "Woah, God." I don’t know if I’m prepared for angered and scared people. But, does that stop me from doing what I love? God calls us to spread His love to the world in the midst of darkness. Isn’t it worth the risk?

PSALM 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

God calls us to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations, to be a stronghold tower FOR HIM. Why shy away from something so great? Wouldn’t you want to share that love, joy, and the gift of salvation with someone else?

So, I challenge YOU. Go out of your way to say "Hi" to a stranger, even if it is a smile or a, “I like your shoes” to start up a conversation. Be BOLD for the Lord. Stay strong and don’t fall back for what the world says you should do. Be the change, be the difference, be a light.

If you haven’t already figured out through reading this, I have decided to spend and dedicate my summer to be a mobilization intern with Mission of Hope Haiti. I am thoroughly excited to see His work there and what He will do in the lives of the Haitians there.

Stay rad y'all,

-Cay
